Bike4ROW is a cycling campaign and ride around Lake Michigan that supports Recovery on Water (ROW), a rowing program for breast cancer survivors. Through a partnership with the Chicago Park District, funds raised through Bike4Row will allow Recovery on Water to secure a permanent home in a new boathouse at 28th and Eleanor on the South Branch of the Chicago River. Born from the rowing adventure, ROW4ROW, Bike4ROW’s inaugural ride will take place August 10 through August 24, 2014. Click here to follow our blog.
Bike4ROW is a bicycle ride, not a race- covering 1,000 miles of terrain over 15 days. We encourage you to visit the application sites below to learn more about riding, donating and volunteering to make Bike4ROW a huge success. We thank you for your cooperation in advance! Questions, feel free to contact us below.
Ultimately, the goal of Bike4ROW is meant to be a rolling celebration of the lives of breast cancer survivors while supporting a home for ROW’s members and the south branch community.

I'm cycling for ROW... because I love exercise and I hate breast cancer! We also desperately need a boathouse and home for amazing programs.
Something silly about me... I love cereal and could eat it for every meal (with no complaints).
Tom Heineman / 65
I'm cycling for ROW... because I became friends with Jenn when I met her before she rowed around the lake in 2012. She had consulted with me because I had circumnavigated the lake in a kayak in 2006. My motivations are two-fold: 1) the row for recovery program is something I believe in; the mental and physical health benefits of intense exercise are indisputable. 2) biking around the lake for 1000 miles will be another great adventure.
Something silly about me... Me circumnavigating the lake again. :-)
Liz Bautista / 42
I'm cycling for ROW... because I believe in empowerment and I'm against anything that tries to bring a good woman down. Cancer is no exception!! I want to help make that boathouse happen!!
Something silly about me... I love themed parties. Dressing up is so much fun! I love walking into a party and seeing all the creativity in the costumes. It's a chance to be a kid again. :)
Sarah Eisenberg / 23
I'm cycling for ROW... because I love being on a bike and seeing the world while riding a bike, and because cancer sucks, and what a great way to come together and meet new people!
Something silly about me... I've never eaten a pickle before!
Emily Clark / 25
I'm cycling for ROW... because ROW did amazing things for my mom and I want to help the organization grow! This trip is will be a trip of a lifetime and I could not be more proud of everyone coming together and participating for such a great cause!
Something silly about me... I love to be upside down and I am an ice cream connoisseur!
Andy Junk / 28
Why I'm cycling for ROW... because I think the cause is great and the executive director is super cute (I'm not a creep- she's also my girlfriend).
Something silly about me... I have a web series called "Drunk in a Trunk with Andy Junk," which is exactly what you think it is.
Kari Kantor / 26
Why I'm cycling for ROW... because the ROW team inspires me to kick ass every day, even when I don't feel like it. I love cycling and am ready to invest in a challenge alongside a bunch of strong, courageous souls.
Something silly about me... I sing The Hollies' song, "Hey Carrie Anne" (Kari Ann) to myself as motivation. :P
Melissa Clark / 28
I'm cycling for ROW... because I believe in this organization and it's power to heal the people it touches. Also, giving cancer a gigantic middle finger is pretty gratifying too!
Something silly about me... I have a guilty pleasure crush on Rod Stewart, "If you want my body and you think I'm sexy, come on sugar let me know", how can it not pump you up!
Ray McNally / 26
I'm cycling for ROW... because I love the spirit of the ROW team and I want to join in on the fight to kick cancer's butt!
Something silly about me... Flavor Flav not only taught me how to tell time, but how to love.
Ellie Zwick / 21
I'm cycling for ROW... because I started volunteering with ROW in high school, and I met the toughest, coolest group of women ever. It's an honor to be able to help contribute to their new boathouse!
Something silly about me... I'm a HUGE Elvis fan. I've been obsessed since I was ten. This past spring break I toured Memphis and Graceland and I almost cried.
Matt Weiss / 21
I'm cycling for ROW... because of how courageous the ladies of ROW are and how deserving ROW is of a boathouse. Also, because I love adventures, challenges, cycling, and northern Michigan.
Something silly about me...When I was 4 years old, I had two pet frogs named Burp and Sneeze.
Eric Bruce / 52
I'm cycling for ROW... because I love a challenge. I have mad respect for Jenn Gibbons and the mission of ROW. I love the opportunity to see a part of the country I have never seen before at the leisurely pace of 15 mph. I look forward to sharing this adventure with 29 like-minded athletes. I want to positively impact the lives of breast cancer survivors by doing my part to fund their boathouse which will allow amazing programs to be offered.
Something silly about me... I'm shamelessly a huge fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax. And I sing to my dogs. Songs that I have made up.
Beth Geiger / 60
I'm cycling for ROW... because I love this organization and the women I've met through this program. I also love a challenge.
Something silly about me... I love popcorn, crossword puzzles and babies, especially my grandson, Nash!
Kathleen Behner / 58
I'm cycling for ROW... because I am addicted to biking vacations and also have the hardest time saying "no" to Coach Jenn! And as a member of ROW, I want to help our team get a new boat house which will be our team's permanent home.
Something silly about me... I love to look fashionable but loathe clothes shopping.
Lauren Pollock / 32
I'm cycling for ROW... because cancer has had an effect on me in so many way- so F*** cancer. AND selfishly because I get to spend 8+ days with Jenn who is one of my best friends in the world.
Something silly about me... My feet are ridiculously small & I speak Spanish to my dog- and he understands it.
